Venue: Kirwan Theatre (Arts Concourse NUI Galway) Date: Thursday 17th February Time: 7pm Speakers: Alan Kerins - from the Alan Kerins Projects Linda Keane - from Ability West Motion: ‘That This House Believes that Charity Begins at Home’ On Thursday 17th February, the Literary and Debating Society will be holding its Charity Debate in the Kirwan Theatre at 7pm. Speakers on the night will include representatives from both of this year’s nominated College Week charities- Alan Kerins of ‘The Alan Kerins Projects’ and Linda Keane of ‘Ability West’. With College week fast approaching Lit n Deb have decided to explore the issue upon which College Week was originally based- the concept of raising and giving money to charity. Most people would agree that being charitable to any organisation is a very worthwhile pursuit. But then the question arises, should we help charities here in Ireland or those doing work abroad? Can it be argued that one more important than the other? So join the Literary and Debating Society, this Thursday evening, for a lively and interesting discussion as we ask the question, ‘Does Charity Begin at Home?’ All are welcome to attend and give their own thoughts on the subject.
